last night me and callan and zac and nessa hung out!
and zac told us how him and max have started saying this thing, whenever something really small goes their way, like finding 5 bucks in their pocket or catching a train on time, they say ‘muller lyfe’ after zac and nessa’s cousin who is a muller, and is apparently just that sort of guy
and then later they told us a story about the same cousin, who engraved his name on some new tools he got for chrismas but spelt his own name wrong
so then we decided whenever something small goes wrong to say ‘mullre life’
this made me laugh so hard omg

Nessa: I think you left your moisturiser here. Mullre lyfe
Callan: On the bus with a guy who is listening to his iPod so loudly the whole bus can hear it. The guy listened to Killing in the Name. Got my hopes up for some sick beats only to be given Ke$ha. Mullre lyfe
So my mom is shopping in a supermarket, wearing a full hijab and jilbab (commonly misnamed as a burka) and the whole time she is there, this kid is staring at her. Won’t stop staring. Just looking with wide-eyed shock. The lil feller isn’t any older than four. She doesn’t think much of it, she is used to far worse than just a few stares. Until the very end when the kid and his mom are behind her in the checkout, and he leans up and whispers loudly: “I LOVE YOU BATMAN”
I was told by my professors that Kitty Genovese was a 28-year-old unmarried woman who was attacked, raped, and brutally murdered on her way home from her shift as manager of a bar. I was told that numerous people witnessed the attack and her cries for help but didn’t do anything because they “assumed someone else would”. Nobody intervened until it was too late.
Now… is it likely that people overheard Kitty’s cries for help and ignored them because they thought someone else would deal with it? Or, perhaps, did they ignore her because they knew she was a lesbian and just didn’t care?
Maybe that’s not the case. Maybe it was just a random attack. Maybe her neighbours didn’t know she was gay, or didn’t care.
But it’s a huge chunk of information to leave out about her in a supposedly scientific study of events, since her sexuality made her much more vulnerable to violent crimes than the average person. And it’s a dishonour to her memory.
RIP Kitty Genovese. Society may only remember you for how you died, but I will remember you for who who were.

It’s true that there were neighbors who did nothing, but there were those who acted.
So I just woke up and my first thought was “what if in the four horsemen of the apocalypse, pestilence was one of those anti-vax moms?”
quite frankly the four white suburban soccer-moms of the apocalypse would scare me way more
