“Kids who were in any way off the extremely narrow line of the norm were persecuted ruthlessly, and I don’t know anyone who just got over it…

“We weren’t pandered to with the myriad of diagnosed anxiety disorders of today’s kids. Naw, we just had eating disorders and mental illnesses that we suffered in secret, silence, and shame.

“For example, one of my high school friends lived in terror that the devil was trying to grab him from underground, one among a number of his quirks that in retrospect point to at least a concern for adolescent onset schizophrenia. No one was concerned. He couldn’t be convinced to stop climbing onto the roof of the school to escape the devil so he was expelled. The boy didn’t end up surviving his twenty-first summer.”

The way we perceive time and history is so weird
I get so tripped out when I think about how Cleopatra lived closer tot he iPhone being invented than she did to the Great Pyramids being built. Or how Stonehenge would have already been ruins when Jesus walked the earth or how Oxford University is older than the Aztec Empire or how Anne Frank and MLK were born in the same year like man this it’s all so crazy

this fucked me up

John McCain’s son, Jack McCain, responds to racists who took “offense” to the Old Navy interracial family advertisement.

Can we also talk about how that woman said “you couldn’t get a white woman”, like white women are the tip top of the racial scale and are a prize to be had. Basically insinuating Black Women are sloppy seconds #NotHereForIt. Great clapback, Jack. Classy and to the point.

I’ve had too many encounters with white girls who think I’m just a phase and don’t respect the relationship that I have with my boyfriend. They always talk down to me or act like I don’t exist. Good thing he always has my back, but I hate how I have to be really aggressive to get them to back off.
