it’s important for people within the queer/lgbt+ community to recognize their own privileges and stay within their own lanes but if your “activism” focuses mostly on harping on the ways we differ from one another instead instead of coming together on the struggles we share, then you’re actively dividing our community and giving the cishets exactly what they want.

I know how hard it sucks to be under the thumb of people far more powerful than we are, and how tempting it is to instill ourselves with a sense of power and control by going after people more on our level, but if we all cooled it on who’s co-opting whose struggle and who’s invading whose space and instead focused on the actual, visibly damaging threat of a cisheteronormative patriarchal society, we’d all be better off.
