One of the two videos Alex and I did for Cousin Joe Twoshacks went live today! The song is a twangy little ditty called “Lucy Skidmore”. When Joe asked us to do this song off his album, I was pretty excited due to the over all melancholic tone. I really wanted to direct something a bit more serious, and since Joe let me basically take his song and do anything I wanted, this is what i came up with.
I don’t want to talk too much about it, and let people garner what they do from the narrative, but I’ll ramble a little. I listened to the track many times while I was noodling on it and wanted to go for something not very literal. It became an exploration of tough love, purgatory, and acceptance; as well as getting back a part of yourself from a journey better then it was before; more bright.. more beautiful.
Anyway I hope you guys enjoy it! (there is an f-bomb in the song so if you’re a young fellow maybe watch with your Ma and Popop so you can point it out gleefully) December 16th the second video we did will also come out. In the meantime, you can watch the other artist’s videos at Joe’s site. Thanks guys! Much love!
Alex did all the backgrounds in this one! Give that boy a trophy.
