I know what makes it 90s for me:

Ghost in The Shell and X-Men… those where the BOMB in the 90s.

She is basically Major Kusanagi with a hint of 90s Marvel Rogue.
I mean look at this, the hair cut, the jacket, the clothing, the neck-plug-thing… mind hacking, she is Motoko Kusanagi.

And the the whole tight clothing with vest-length leather jacket is basically a perfect channeling of 90’s Marvel Comics fashion senses. We can be glad she is not covered in pouches.

You could easily just repaint her model into Rogue from the X-Men, but you would not even need to change her hair.

This design has some serious 90s going on right there.

Yes awesome, this is excellent.

(And it’s totally fine and great that she evokes these characters because the aesthetic of the game overall seems to riff off of our collective 90s nostalgia, in case anyone feels like interpreting this as hate)

In fact you could make a case for 90s nostalgia being inherently original and maybe even subversive. When’s the last time anyone looked back on 90s culture/media as a whole with any kind of fondness? Or at least, without embarrassment.
